Sometimes the Weather or Maps page shows a short notice instead of its usual content. The notice means the service on this site is not ready to answer yet. It is not a problem with your device or your browser.

#What you see

  • Weather is being set up. The page adds that forecasts for every place will be here shortly, and asks you to try again in a few minutes.
  • Maps is being set up. The page adds that the place list is loading, and asks you to try again in a few minutes.

Both services need a list of places before they can answer. While that list is loading, there is nothing to search yet, so the page waits instead of showing an error.

#What to do

  1. Wait a few minutes.
  2. Reload the page.
  3. In the meantime, the rest of the site works as usual: search, news, and any other service that is ready.

Your followed items and settings are not affected. They are kept in your browser, not by the service that is getting ready.

#If it does not clear

If the notice is still there after an hour or so, tell us. Say which service and which page you opened, and the time you saw the notice, with your time zone. See How to reach us.

#If a service is not on the site at all

That is different. A site that does not have a service shows no tab for it and a "page not found" message if you open its address. See A service is missing on this site.

#Common questions

Is my internet connection the problem?

No. The notice comes from the site, and it appears even when your connection is fine.

How long does it take?

The page says a few minutes. If it lasts much longer, contact us.

Will my followed places and saved map places still be there?

Yes. They are stored in your browser and are not touched while a service is getting ready.
